Deputy Press Secretary -- Ohio Treasurer

General Duties:

The Deputy Press Secretary will provide needed, high-level support to the Media Relations division of the Communications Department. This position will support the office’s efforts to serve Ohioans, create awareness for various programs and initiatives, and champion office achievements and success stories.


The successful candidate will assist the Press Secretary in executing media engagement, planning open press events, and staffing the Treasurer when participating in public events where media is present.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, political science, public relations, public administration or a related field from an accredited university or college.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least eighteen (18) months working in communications, government relations, public relations, media relations, or a related field.

Desired characteristics include:

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Experience working with the media and composing press releases and talking points; and
  • Experience in creating and managing social media content.

Policy Counsel -- Supreme Court of Ohio

General Duties:

The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Policy Counsel in the Specialized Dockets Section. The Policy Counsel provides support services and resources to the local trial courts throughout Ohio. Monitors and assists in the research, development and continuation of various specialized dockets throughout Ohio courts.

What You'll Do:

Serves as staff support to the Commission on Specialized Dockets and subcommittees. 

Develops rules and standards as appropriate to assist with specialized docket programs. 

Supports trial courts with developing and operating specialized docket programs in compliance with Rules 36.20—36.29 and Appendix I of the Rules of Superintendence.

Requirements:

Requires a law degree required in good standing with the Ohio Bar.  Requires demonstrated experience working with specialized docket programs, experience with Ohio court programs preferred.  Requires six years’ experience in a related field and a minimum (3) three working with specialized dockets programs.

Requires the basic understanding of a specialized docket's role in courts and the benefits of such programs. 

Requires a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; the Internet, and Westlaw or Lexis and other legal-research resources.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $100,000 annually
